Abe Lincoln, PowerPoint, And The Gettysburg Address
In October 2002 we posted our primer on PowerPoint (read the post and download the primer here with our complements) as part of our continuing campaign to end the business world's raging “deck addiction.” Not that we have anything against PowerPoint per se … it, like every communication tool, has its time and place. The problem is that too often people now consider PowerPoint their only tool and use it every place … often fostering less effective communication as a result.
Well, today a friend of the firm forwards another arrow for our quiver: Peter Norvig's PowerPoint presentation of the Gettysburg Address, which you can view here. This presentation been around for some time, it seems, but frankly has escaped us until now. Don’t let it escape you … it’s well worth seeing.
(FYI, Norvig is Director of Search Quality for Google ... you can read more about him here, and you can read about how he created the presentation here.)
