Gordon Bethune

We don't often find much of interest related to internal communication in mainstream business books, but that's not the case in Worst to First by Gordon Bethune, CEO of Continental Airlines. We use the turnaround of Continental as a case study of effective executive communication, strategic messaging, and the use of convincing decisions, and in Worst To First Bethune offers a rich first-person account of how internal communication was a significant catalyst for positive change at Continental. It's a read we recommend for leaders and internal communication strategists alike.

I AM GORDON'S 5TH COUSIN AND HAVE WRITTEN HIM TWICE BUT I GUESS HE'S TO BUSY TO REPLY. I JUST WANTED TO SAY HI AND INVITE HIM TO DINNER IF HE EVER WAS IN PHOENIX. ALSO I WANTED HIM TO KNOW A BOOK HAS BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT JOHN & CHRISTIAN BETHUNE AND OUR ANCESTRY GOING BACK 200 YEARS. THE NAME OF THE BOOK IS, "SPREADING BRANCHES AND RAMBLING ROOTS". WRITTEN BY, MICHAEL AND PAM BETHUNE. ANYWAY THERE'S THE INFO, DO WHAT YOU WILL WITH IT. EVELYN G. BELT (AKA, GERI)
I am Mr Bethune's former customer. Mr Bethune appears in a video shown on Continental flights in which he claims that customer satisfaction is a priority at his airline. Yet he cut all special meals from most domestic flights - leaving a good percentage of his client-base left with the added hassle of bringing their own meals. Some customer service. I am taking my and my family's business to another airline.
